JCC will hold West Side Story auditions
Jamestown Community College will hold auditions from 6-9 p.m. on May 1 and 2 for its fall musical, West Side Story.
Performances will be held in November.
Julie Costantini will direct JCC’s production, which is based on a book by Arthur Laurents and featuring music by Stephen Sondheim and Leonard Bernstein.
West Side Story, inspired by William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet, is set in the Upper West Side of New York City in the mid-1950s. The musical focuses on the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, teenage street gangs.
St. Dominic’s plans
spaghetti dinner
St. Dominic’s R.C. Church (formerly St. Patrick’s) of Brocton, 12 Central Ave., will be having their famous spaghetti dinner (homemade sauce and meatballs, pies and an assortment of desserts) Wednesday, May 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. Eat-in or takeout available. Prices will be $10 per adult, $8 per child.
Circle of Love needs local sewers
The Circle of Love is making telemetry pouches for cardiac rehab unit patients, and the all local sewers are invited to contribute their time and talents. Patterns and fabric are available from Josie Christopher, who may be reached at 366-0698 or 969-3250.
Rural Ministry Healthy Heart Workshop set
The next Healthy Heart workshop is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 2 at the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry. The workshop will be held at our location at 319 Washington Ave., Dunkirk.
This month, the Healthy Heart Workshop will introduce great tasting vegan dishes.
There will be a drawing for a kitchen or nutrition-related item. Participants must sign in at the door to be eligible for a chance for the giveaway.
The Healthy Heart Workshops are generally scheduled for the first Thursday of the month at 5 p.m. Each event will last about 60 minutes, and is offered free of charge. There is limited seating for the workshops, so please call the Rural Ministry, or email ccrmsahl@gmail.com for a reserved seat.

Chicken ‘n Biscuit Dinner is Wednesday
Chicken and biscuit dinner to benefit Forestville Food Pantry will take place Wednesday, May 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Hall, 11 Center St., Forestville. The menu includes chicken over biscuits (chicken, sauce by Colony Restaurant owner Jeff LaBarbera), salad, vegetable, apple/cranberry sauce, dessert. The cost is $12.
