Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club Ladies Auxiliary Crowning Dinner set for June 12

The Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club Ladies Auxiliary Crowning Dinner will take place Wednesday, June 12 at the Clarion Hotel, 30 Lake Shore Drive E., Dunkirk. Following 6:30 cocktails, dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Members can check the menu at the Club. A short meeting follows after dinner.

Evans Garden Club plans presentation

The Evans Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11. The meeting will be held at the Angola Library, 34 N. Main Street, Angola. A presentation on the herbal use of native plants will be given by Lyn Chimera. She is a garden consultant, a master gardener and a native plant specialist. She has also published a book, “Five Keys to Better Gardening,” a planning tool to help improve your gardening. All are invited to attend.

Literacy Volunteers book sale continues today, Saturday

Looking for a good book to read? 21 East Bookstore has an eclectic selection of used books. Enjoy a good book and support a worthy cause. The LVCC Bookstore is located at 21 E. Second St., Dunkirk and is open Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The next Literacy Volunteer Book sale will be Thursday, July 18 through Saturday, July 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds benefit adult literacy.

Sheridan Post 6390 VFW Auxiliary to install officers Monday

The Sheridan Post 6390 VFW Auxiliary will hold its installation of officers for the next year at this month’s meeting, which will be Monday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m. The installation will be conducted by past president Jackie Kulpa at the post, 2556 Main Road in Sheridan. Refreshments will be served to attendees after the regular meeting and installation. All incoming officers must be present and all members are encouraged to attend.

Dunkirk Elks Lodge hosting an open house

The Dunkirk Elks Lodge located at 428 Central Ave. will be hosting an open house. This event is being held on Saturday, June 8 from 3 to 5 p,m.

Who is invited to the open house? Everyone is; nonmembers, past members, current members, and bring your family too. The Dunkirk Lodge extends this invitation to our Dunkirk Fredonia community, also to Silver Creek, Westfield, Forestville, and all over the northern county.

The Elks motto is “Elks Care, Elks Share.” Attend the open house and see this motto in action. Stop in for a tour of our beautiful lodge, enjoy a few appetizers and socialize with some nice people. One never knows who they will meet at their local Elks Lodge.

Silver Creek Children’s Fair set for Saturday

The annual Silver Creek Children’s Fair will take place Saturday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Village Ball Park, hosted by the Kiwanis. A $6 wrist band covers all kids’ attractions, including bounce houses, pony rides, duck race, train ride, carriage rides. etc. There will also be a magician show and performances in “entertainment alley.” Games, food and vendors will be available.

Fredonia Planning Board to meet about Brooks project

The Village of Fredonia Planning Board will be reviewing and discussing updated plans and information concerning the Brooks Memorial Hospital proposal in Fredonia on today at 5:30 p.m. Public questions and comment will NOT be taken at this workshop session.

The Fredonia Planning Board’s final discussions and an anticipated vote on the Brooks hospital project will take place Wednesday, June 12 at 5:30 p.m. Public questions and comment WILL be taken at this meeting.

40th reunion for the Dunkirk High School Class of 1979 planned

The plans for the 40th reunion for the Dunkirk High School Class of 1979 are now finalized for its upcoming class reunion.

Friday, July 5 is a Meet and Greet to be held at the American Legion Post No. 62 from 7 to 10 p.m. Pizza, wings, refreshments will be provided.

Saturday, July 6 is a dinner get-together being held at the Northern Conservation Club starting at 6 p.m.

If anyone is interested in attending both or one of these events, the committee urges you to send in your reservations by June 9.

Responses have been very slow and the event may have to be canceled if more classmates do not participate.

Perrysburg Community Wide Yard Sale set for Saturday

The annual Perrysburg Community Wide Yard Sale is Saturday, June 8, rain or shine.

Maps are available at the Perrysburg Town Hall, 10460 Peck Hill Road.
