FHS Class of 1970 meeting Tuesday

The FHS Class of 1970 will hold a meeting to prepare for its 50th class reunion in 2020 on Tuesday, June 11, at 7 p.m. at Coughlin’s Pub, 47 W. Main St., Fredonia. Classmates who are unable to attend but would like to be part of the committee are asked to contact Marcia Johnson, marciajo1007@yahoo.com.

Pay Hanover water bills minus penalty ’til Monday

Hanover Town Clerk Janine L. Salzman reminds Forestville water customers that the last day to pay water bills without penalty is Monday, June 10. Late payments will be charged an additional 10 percent penalty fee. Payments can be made at the Town Clerk’s Office in the Hanover Town Hall before 5 p.m.

‘Ride to Find ’em’ motorcycle run today

A motorcycle run called the “Ride to Find ’em” will take place today during Rib fest at Celoron. All proceeds to support CUE Missing Persons Foundation. The ride will travel from Celoron Park to Dunkirk Pier and back and is in memory of Lori Ceci-Bova Lakewood N.Y. and Damien Sharp Warren Pa.

American Legion, Post 59 to mark 100th birthday

American Legion, Post 59, will be celebrating the American Legion’s 100th birthday today at Post 59, 156 E. Main St., Fredonia.

A service will be held at noon to honor our veterans

The Son’s of American Legion Squad 59 will be serving hot dogs at 12.30 p.m. for Legion members, followed by a cornhole competition at 1 p.m. and then music by “The Scroggins” from 3 to 6 p.m. A buffet, which required previous sign up, will be held at 6.30 p.m. Completing the day’s festivities will be music by “Big Tone” from 8 to 11 p.m.

All members and guests are welcome at no cost.

Westfield-Mayville Rotary announces ‘Chips, Putts, and Pints’ June 14 event

Area golfers and those wishing to chip in to help the Rotary Club of Westfield-Mayville continue its various service projects are invited to attend this organization’s ‘Chips, Putts, and Pints’ event on Friday, June 14, 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Pinehurst Golf Club, Route 20 in Westfield. This evening of “skillhilarity” for adults ages 21 and up features chipping and putting contests, a barbecue beef buffet, craft beer, and lots of laughs!

Contest participants are limited to the first 80 entrants. There will be men’s and women’s divisions. Points awarded will be in a similar format as (drive), chip and putt contests. The best three scores win! First, second and third place cash prizes are $100, $75, and $50, respectively. Ties will be decided by a chip-off. Participants may bring their own clubs or borrow some from the folks at Pinehurst Golf Club, platinum sponsor for this charity event.

Tickets are $35 per single or $60 per couple. Admission includes the contest entry, a delicious barbecue beef buffet dinner, a craft beer, and friendly competition for cash prizes and bragging rights! Fredonia-Pomfret Republicans to caucus

The Fredonia-Pomfret Republicans are caucusing for village offices up for election. The caucus will take place Saturday, June 15 at 10 a.m. at Forest Lodge, 329 E. Main St., Fredonia. Registered Republicans may attend.

Forestville Community-Wide Yard Sales June 15

The Forestville Community-Wide Yard Sales will be held on Saturday, June 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A list of yard sales will be available at Cave’s Market on the day of sales. To have your sale on the list, sign up at Evans Bank or Cave’s Market.

Sheridan Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary banquet planned for June 17

The Sheridan Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary installation banquet will take place Monday, June 17 at 6 p.m. at the Clarion Hotel, 30 Lake Shore Drive E., Dunkirk. All members are encouraged to attend.
