Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County bookstore relocating

Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County’s bookstore is on the move! The bookstore is relocating to downtown Fredonia at 10-12 Park Place. This new space will increase the size of the bookstore and training areas.

No book donations can be accepted at the present location after July 6.

There will be big sales at the end of the month.

Imagine Forestville hosts evening talk

Imagine Forestville invites the public to an evening talk with The Chautauqua County Land Banks Executive Director Gina Paradis. Come learn about what the Land Bank does and what its purpose is to the communities in Chautauqua County. This is a must attend for those concerned about the blight in their community.

The talk will be in Forestville on Tuesday, July 2 at 7 p.m. at the St Rose of Lima Church Hall, 11 Center St., Forestville. Be sure to bring questions. Light refreshments will be served after the informational talk. Any questions, call Aimee Rogers: 965-4321 or Nancy Adams-Fry: 934-8534.

Town of Evans July 3 road closures

The town of Evans announces the closing of Kennedy Avenue and Eisenhower Road from Lake Shore Road to Quebec Street, the closing of Eastwood Avenue from Lake Shore to Northfield Street, the closing of Northfield from Eastwood Avenue to Kennedy Ave, the closing of Garfield Avenue from Lake Shore to Oakland Street and the closing of Oakland from Garfield Ave to Kennedy Ave, for the purpose of providing public safety to all participants, residents, and traffic beginning at approximately 7 p.m. on the 3rd of July (rain date 4th of July), and re-opening at the conclusion of the event.

There will be no vehicles allowed in Lake Erie Beach Park beginning at 4 a.m. July 3 through 4 a.m. July 5.

Fredonia Farmers’ Market news for Saturday

Summer is finally here! At the Fredonia Farmers’ Market: Fred Farm, Feinen’s, and new vendor Fredonia Farm to Table all have a wide variety of vegetables available, plus strawberries, and more coming along every week.

Gary Patterson is back with veg and flowering plants, as well as hanging baskets.

This week, Svenska Spelman returns with Swedish traditional folk music from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Fredonia-Pomfret Democratic Association to meet

The Fredonia-Pomfret Democratic Association will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2 at the Darwin R. Barker Library, 7 Day St., Fredonia. All are welcome.

Civil War exhibit opens Tuesday

The Dunkirk History Museum invites all to attend the Civil War exhibit opening on Tuesday, July 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. This free event features an extensive collection of artifacts and photographs of local men who served in the Civil War. The museum is located at 513 Washington Ave. in Dunkirk.

SCCS Music Alumni Reunion Performance Cancelled

The Silver Creek Central School Music Alumni reunion and performance planned for July 5 and 6 has been cancelled. The organizing committee regrets that it has been unable to confirm enough participants to successfully complete a program, but wishes to thank all those who responded and all those who tried to make this event happen.
