Pomfret announces town hall closures

There are two closures upcoming at Pomfret Town Hall. The town hall will be closed Friday, Aug. 23 because Day Street will be closed for the Farm Festival. Also, the office of the town clerk will close at noon Wednesday, Aug. 28 for a county municipal clerks’ meeting.

Legion Riders to hold Dice Run

The American Legion Riders will hold its second annual Dice Run on Saturday, Aug. 24. This year’s theme is “Bikes for Bridles” with proceeds going to the N.E.I.G.H. program helping local veterans with equestrian therapy. Registration will be at Dunkirk Memorial Post 62, 211 Central Ave. at 10 a.m., with kickstands up at noon. The run returns to the Frewsburg American Legion Post 556, 9 Meadow Lane for dinner. Donation $15 rider, $5 per passenger. $5 per person to enter into dice roll. There will also be an auction. The event will be held rain or shine.

Sheridan Historical Society events

Sheridan Historical Society open hours are 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 26, followed by presenter Ruth Nichols, Arkwright Historian, at 7 p.m. She will be speaking on “Early Arkwright History.” A temporary exhibit, “Childhood Pastimes,” will remain up until after Election Day. The historical society is located on the corner of Route 20 and Center Road. All are welcome. For more information, call 672-2201.
