Middle Road to be impacted by railroad work

Railroad crews will be making repairs to the Middle Road railroad crossing located in the city of Dunkirk from Monday to Thursday. Middle Road will be closed to all traffic at the CSX railroad crossing during this time. A detour will be posted.

Cherry Creek VFW Veterans ‘Spinning the Wheel’ tonight

The Cherry Creek VFW Veterans, located at 7165 N. Cherry Creek Road, Cherry Creek, will hold their annual “Spinning the Wheel” event on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. There is no admission fee. The event features $1 spins (strip steaks, turkey, hams) and free buffet foods.

Pomfret historian to hold book signing breakfast

Forest Lodge #166 F &A.M. will be holding its monthly Sunday Family Breakfast on Nov. 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This all-you-can-eat breakfast will consist of eggs made to order, pancakes or French toast, sausages, fruit cocktail, toast, juice, milk, coffee and tea. Adults and teenagers 13 and up $8, Children 6 to 12 $4, Kids 5 and under are free.

Special guest Todd Langworthy, Town of Pomfret Historian, will be on hand during the breakfast with many historical displays, and will be doing a book signing as well. The Lodge will be offering tours of the facility and Lodge room on request.

The public is welcome and cordially invited to attend, as is anyone with interests in, or has questions about Free Masonry. Forest Lodge is located at 321 E. Main St. (Route 20), Fredonia.

Firemen’s Association meeting Sunday

The South Western Association of Volunteer Firemen has announced their next quarterly business meeting. It will be hosted by the Fredonia Fire Department in the village of Fredonia in Chautauqua County on Sunday, Nov. 17. The meeting will take place at the Fredonia Fire Department, located at 80 W. Main St. The executive meeting will begin at 12 p.m. and the general membership meeting to start at 1 p.m.

The association is comprised of volunteer firefighters and EMS providers of fire departments and rescue squads in the four counties of Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and Erie counties of New York. Sheridan Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary meeting Monday

The Sheridan Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m., at the Fire Hall, 2800 Route 20, Sheridan. All members are encouraged to attend.
