Dunkirk School Board of Education executive session

The Dunkirk Board of Education will hold an executive session Saturday at 9 a.m. in the administrative conference room to discuss a personnel matter. There will be no action taken following the conclusion of this session.

Firemen’s Group to meet Sunday

The South Western Association of Volunteer Firemen has announced their next quarterly business meeting. It will be hosted by the Rushford Fire Department in Allegany County on Sunday, Feb. 2. The meeting will take place at the Rushford Fire Department, located at 8911 Upper St. in Rushford. The executive meeting will begin at noon and the general membership meeting to start at 1 p.m.

The association is comprised of volunteer firefighters and EMS providers of fire departments and rescue squads in the four counties of Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and Erie counties of New York. 2019 Annual Action Plan Revision Public Hearing Monday

A public hearing on proposed revisions to the 2019 Annual Action Plan through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program will be held in the Mayor’s Conference Room at City Hall on Monday, Feb. 3 at 4:30 p.m.

The City of Dunkirk’s Department of Planning and Development is proposing revisions to the CDBG Annual Action Plan to reallocate under-utilized funding from an activity that was cancelled by the sub recipient to the pier improvement project. Copies of the revised draft are available in the City Clerk’s Office, the Planning and Development Office, and on the City’s website. The 30 day public comment period started Friday, Jan. 17, and will end after Saturday, Feb. 15. Community input is an essential part of the CDBG program and Dunkirk residents are encouraged to share their comments on the revised plans. Planning Board meets Tuesday

The Chautauqua County Planning Board’s monthly meeting will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4 in Jamestown Community College, 525 Falconer St., Jamestown. The meeting will be held in the boardroom of the Hamilton Collegiate Center. Meetings of the County Planning Board are always open to the public.

Little Adventurers Storytime

A Little Adventurers Storytime will be held at the Ahira Hall Memorial Library, 37 W. Main St., Brocton on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 10 a.m. This interactive program is an opportunity for children 5 years of age and younger to sing, listen to stories, play, and make a craft with their grownup. Fredonia-Pomfret Democrats to meet

Fredonia-Pomfret Democratic Association will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Barker Library, 7 Day St., Fredonia. All Democrats and like-minded people are welcome.

Hanover Clerk reminds residents taxes are due

Property owners are reminded that Tuesday, February 4, is the last day to pay 2020 county/town taxes penalty free. Hanover Town Clerk Timothy Crino reminds Hanover taxpayers that taxes can be paid at the Hanover Town Clerk’s Office, 68 Hanover Street, Silver Creek, during regular business hours.

Payments made between Feb. 5 and March 31 will be assessed a 1 percent penalty.

Late starting courses at JCC announced

Registration is under way for late starting spring semester courses at Jamestown Community College’s locations in Jamestown, Dunkirk, Olean, and Warren.

Depending on the site, courses in art, biology, business, criminal justice, computer science, education, humanities, human services, music, physical education, psychology, sociology, Spanish, and welding are available.
