Jamestown’s Turn the River Green canceled

The Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce has announced that they are canceling the annual Turn the River Green for St. Patrick’s Day event, which was scheduled for this Saturday at the Riverwalk in Jamestown. “We feel it is not advisable to hold this event, which draws a very large crowd, due to the Governor’s ban on events larger than 500 people,” stated Sheila Webster, the Chamber’s director of marketing and communications.

Delinquent water/sewer bills added to Fredonia taxes

All Fredonia water/sewer bills that are delinquent after April 6, 2020 will be added to the 2020 village taxes. The tax bills are expected to be mailed by June 1, with payment due without penalty on or before July 1, 2020. The property tax rate in the village, currently at $35.19 per $1,000 assessed valuation will be determined after the village board adopts its 2020-2021 budget.

The board must adopt a budget by May 1, 2020. The 2020-2021 fiscal year begins June l, 2020.

Eastern Star ham dinner planned for Saturday

The Eastern Star will hold a ham dinner on Saturday, March 14 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Masonic Hall, Main Street, Forestville. The costs are adult dinners: $10, dinner tickets for children 12 and under: $8.
