Sons of American Legion meets

The Squadron 59 Sons of the American Legion committee met recently.

Attending were Rod Dziduch, commander, Larry Fiorella, adjutant and finance officer, Rick Holly, Rick MacDonald, Legion Advisor to the SAL, Dave “Duper” Winchell, second vice commander, and Doug McPherson, first vice commander. Excused were David Dengler and Tom Muldowney.

The minutes from December were read to the committee. A motion was made by McPherson to accept; seconded by Holly and passed unanimously. Dziduch spoke with Kirk Tyler, SAL county and district finance and he requested that Squadron 59 SAL re-issue last year’s dues checks. Tyler was unable to locate the one from last year.

Cassadaga’s SAL held a chicken barbecue fundraiser and it did very well. Fiorella said the bank reconciliation was passed out. Fiscal 2021 profit and loss statement was passed out. A motion was made by McPherson to accept reports, seconded by Winchell and passed unanimously. McPherson on membership noted 15 more dues were collected to send in. There are 62 members paid year to date. Holly motioned to accept, MacDonald seconded and it was passed unanimously.

A letter including a donation request from Dunkirk-Fredonia Meals on Wheels was deferred until a later date. Fiorella will address a letter from district and county for dues remittance.

The next meeting will be held Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. at post 59, 156 E. Main St., Fredonia.
