Silver Creek has a supply of COVID-19 test kits available to residents and businesses in Silver Creek. The free kits are available at the clerk’s office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Indoor yard sale

The Slovenian Club of Gowanda will hold an indoor yard sale today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Slovenian Club, 36 Palmer St., Gowanda. For more information, to rent a table or to make donations of saleable merchandise, call or text 716-597-4469. Proceeds will benefit the club’s service projects.

Quilting Companions to gather

Northern Chautauqua Quilting Companions will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, at Harvest Chapel, 39 Matteson Ave., Fredonia. The guest presenter is award-winning quilter, Joanne Powell. Her presentation will be on the unique art of portrait quilting. Visitors are welcome to attend.

Kindergarten, Pre-K

The Forestville Elementary School is currently making plans for next year’s kindergarten and pre-kindergarten registrations. Children who will be 5 years old by Dec. 1, 2022, are eligible for kindergarten. Children who will be 4 years old by Dec. 1, 2022, are eligible for pre-kindergarten. At this time, any parent who has not yet contacted the district and has a child who falls into either of these categories should call the elementary office at 716-965-2742.

Easter events planned at church

WESTFIELD — The West Portland Baptist Church Sunday school is hosting an Easter egg hunt for younger children and an Easter “Escape Room” for older youth on Easter Sunday, April 17 at 9:30 a,m. Come join us rain or shine at the church to celebrate Easter Morning! The church is located at 7081 East Route 20.

Fredonia board shuffles meetings

The Fredonia Board of Education will hold a special meeting Monday at 3:30 p.m. in the high school library. The meeting scheduled for Monday, April 25 has been canceled. A special meeting will be Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. via Zoom. The meeting will be live-streamed and available on our district website.
