Rec center reservations being accepted

The city of Dunkirk Recreation Department will be accepting reservations for usage of the Recreation Center Building at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds in Dunkirk beginning Tuesday, October 4th. Please contact Patty in the Recreation Office at 366-9885 for further information.

Chicken and biscuit dinner planned

SILVER CREEK — A chicken and biscuit dinner will be at the Silver Creek VFW on Main Street from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8. An advancement fundraiser also will be held for Department VFW Senior Vice Commander Dan Kell and Department Auxiliary Senior Vice President Rose Cooper.

A donation of $12 includes salad, chicken and biscuits and dessert. Take-outs available. A raffle will also be held.

Tickets can be purchased at the post or by contacting Pat Rabb 716-341-1328 with tickets also available at the door. The public is welcome.

Family Fun Day set for South Dayton

SOUTH DAYTON –A Family Fun Day in the South Dayton Village Park will take place on Saturday. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. there will be a book sale at the Village Library. Children can bring one canned food to the Library for the South Dayton Food Pantry, select a free book and bookmark.

Other activities include:

¯ The Farmers’ Market will be in the park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Also, Gail Patterson from Cornell Cooperative Extension will have information about programs.

¯ From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., visit the Sundance Kids Farm Petting Zoo with Mike Morton.

¯ At noon, there will be free slice of pizza until gone. Children have to attend to receive the one slice and get a free Halloween coloring page. Sponsored by the Village Playground.

¯ In the Gazebo, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. enjoy The Magic of Don Rogers’ show sponsored by the Village Library.

¯ From 2 to 4 p.m. Drum Circle with Don Gould will perform. Come have fun, make music with the provided buckets and drum sticks.

This is fun for all the family. Bring lawn chairs and blankets.

This project (Petting Zoo & Drum Circle) is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes.

Westfield auxiliary holds annual meeting

WESTFIELD — The WMH Auxiliary will hold its annual meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27 at the hospital. The feature speaker for the evening will be Rod Buchanan, hospital administrator. LIght refreshments will be served. During the business meeting annual reports will be given and the election of directors will take place.

The board hopes to see many members attend as we make plans to continue supporting the hospital through physical plant improvements and advocating its use for medical care throughout the communities it serves.
