postponing tonight’s concert

Due to an illness in the band, Friday evening’s concert with bluegrass band Monroe Crossing has been postponed. A rescheduled date will be announced in the future. Anyone with tickets may contact the Opera House Box Office at 716-679-1891 for ticket refund options.

Valley Historical Society welcomes Langworthy

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Valley Historical Society will meet at the museum at Main and Lester streets on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The featured speaker is Todd Langworthy, Pomfret historian, who will speak on a historical topic that he has never spoken on before. Fredonia Ukulele gathers tonight

Fredonia Ukulele will gather at Costello Community Room, Rockefeller Hall, SUNY Fredonia from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Learn to play the ukulele! Fredonia Ukulele is for players of all experience levels, but begins with “Beginners and Brush Up” from 6 to 6:30 p.m. so newbies can start to learn.

New chords are added every few songs. The goal is to have fun and to make music. Ukuleles are provided or bring your own. Play, sing, or just enjoy listening. Come and go as you please.

Congregation to discuss retirement

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua, at 222 Temple St. in Fredonia, holds a Sunday Worship Service at 11 a.m., both at their physical location and on Zoom. The theme for April is Resistance. On Sunday the newly formed Ministerial Search Committee will lead us in a conversation about our hopes for ministry considering the upcoming retirement of Rev. Sally Hamlin.

Democrats ready for bowling Sunday

The Chautauqua County Democratic Committee will be hosting an event at Lucky Lanes on Route 60 in Fredonia, on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. “Bowling for ballots” will raise funds to help support local democratic candidates and the afternoon will include bowling, food, games and prizes. Tickets may be purchased by visiting the website, chqdem.com.

‘Red Carpet’ skate Saturday in Jamestown

JAMESTOWN — The Jamestown Skating Club will present its spring skating show, “Skate The Red Carpet” on Saturday with showtimes at 1 and 6 p.m. at Northwest Arena. The show will feature Grammy-, Tony- and Oscar-award winning music with solos, duets and group numbers performed by a wide variety of talented skaters, from “Snowplow Sam” beginners to United States Figure Skating Gold Medalists as well as former Disney on Ice stars! The show is sponsored in part by Media One Group. General admission is $10 at the door.
