meeting moving indoors

Because of the weather forecast calling for rain on Saturday, the Board of Gowanda Pine Hill Cemetery is moving the meeting indoors. Today’s meeting will be at 10 a.m. at the Gowanda Municipal Building, 27 E. Main St.

Classmates sought by reunion

The Fredonia High School Class of 1978 is planning its 45th reunion for July 28 and 29 and is missing the addresses of a few classmates. The group is hoping the community can help us locate these classmates so that they can be invited to attend.

Fredonia road

closing slated

Beginning May 24, Porter Avenue between Eagle and Liberty streets in Fredonia will be closed between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for approximately two weeks for a bank stabilization project.

Steam station

picnic June 6

The annual Dunkirk steam station employees picnic will be at noon Tuesday, June 6. Any former or current employees are invited.

Chicken barbecue planned for Friday

A Chiavetta’s chicken barbecue that includes half a chicken with sides will take place at noon until sold out Friday. The fee is $15, cash or charge, at Lucky Lanes, Route 60. The event is sponsored by Forestville Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Reception for author is today

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Sinclairville Free Library will host an author reception for George Clever on Saturday at 1 p.m. to celebrate the publication of his most recent books: “The Queen’s Son: A Delaware Indian Warrior’s 1750 Survival” (historical fiction) and “Bad Art Murders” (mystery). Clever is a retired mathematics professor, military commander, and NASA writer, and a traditional Native American dancer, musician, and elder of the Eastern Delaware Nations. Formerly living in Bear Lake, he now resides in North Carolina.

Library schedule for event changes

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Sinclairville Free Library announces that the performance to be offered at the library by the Cassadaga Valley Central School Jazz Ensemble that was scheduled for Thursday, May 25 has been postponed. There will, however, be a Ukulele Jam at the library at 6 p.m. that day. The library apologizes for any inconvenience. Church sets June 3 yard sale

Fredonia Presbyterian Church’s annual yard sale is Saturday, June 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 219 Central Ave. in Fredonia. For more than 40 years this sale has raised money to support local programs and agencies.
