Pancake

breakfast to

benefit Lakeshore

Humane Society

A pancake breakfast to benefit the Lakeshore Humane Society will be held at the Dunkirk First Ward Falcons Club, 341 E. Lakeshore Drive in Dunkirk on Saturday, July 22 from 8 to 10:30 a.m. The breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, orange juice, coffee, and baked goods. The meal can be enjoyed dine-in or take-out.

Tickets are $7. All are pre-sale only. They are available at the LHS Adoption Center, 431 E. Chestnut St. in Dunkirk, during Open Adoption Hours (Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 3 p.m.)

This event supports LHS’s mission to help companion animals be safe and healthy, and find permanent, loving homes.

United Seniors meet again on Monday

On June 12, the United Seniors met at the Kosciusko Club. The menu was baked pork chops, beef on weck, smashed potatoes, and tossed salad prepared by Pat Tripp. The next meeting will be at 11 a.m. Monday. The menu will be Italian sausage with peppers and onions, barbecue hamburgers, potato salad, broccoli and tossed salad.

Twenty-five members attended the last meeting. The group said the Pledge og Allegiance, a blessing, and sang “God Bless America.” Birthdays included Sharon Buesink, Robin Carr, Linda Riley, Howard Gloss. The group offered thanks to John Binko for the use of the portable speaker and microphone.

Minutes from the last meeting read by Robin Carr. Members stayed and played Bingo that was called by Rose Cerrie, and Rosemary Macuso. Those who haven’t paid for July’s luncheon, can send $12 to Evonne Hennebery, P.O. Box 706, Dunkirk. N.Y. 14048.

Dunkirk Public Library has announced upcoming computer classes. They include: Ancestry Library Edition, today from 1 to 2:30 p.m.; iPhone settings and features, Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m.; Android phone settings and features, from 1 to 2 p.m. July 13.

Fredonia Ukulele gathers Saturday

Fredonia Ukulele will be gathering Saturday at Domus Fare Restaurant, 41 W. Main St., Fredonia from 6 to 8 p.m. Play immediately (all ability levels) and there is no experience necessary. The goal is to have fun and to make music. Ukuleles will be provided or bring your own. Come and go as you please.

The Brocton-Portland Democratic Committee are seeking interested residents to run in the Nov. 7 general election for two Portland Town Councilmembers, four-year terms. Chicken barbecue set for Friday

A chicken barbecue will be Friday at Lucky Lanes, Bennett Road, Fredonia, from noon until 4 p.m. or sold out. It includes half a chicken plus two sides. Cost is $15 cash or credit. Proceeds will benefit local veteran programs and is sponsored by Chautauqua District Order of the Eastern Star.
