Pomfret hearing is canceled
The town of Pomfret Zoning Board has canceled its public hearing on Thursday, Aug. 17.
Rabies clinic set for Aug. 24
ELLINGTON — The Chautauqua County Health Department has announced a free rabies vaccination clinic on Thursday, Aug. 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Town of Ellington Highway Garage, 763 East Main St. The clinic is co-sponsored by the town of Ellington and Chautauqua County Health Department. Dr. Mary Fales will be the attending veterinarian.
Vaccinations will be provided free of charge to all dogs, cats, and domesticated ferrets three months of age and older. All dogs must be on a leash. All cats must be in individual carriers. Pets do not have to be pre-registered for this clinic.
Pet owners must bring previous rabies vaccination records for each animal receiving a shot to ensure proper and effective vaccination; clinic staff will confirm previous rabies vaccination records. Animals without previous vaccination records will receive one (1) year dose of vaccine.

Book launch planned in Kennedy
KENNEDY — The director of the Kennedy Free Library has published her first children’s book,”Charlotte, The Very Good, Very Naughty Girl.” Author Dawn Swanson will have a book launch at The Kennedy Free Library Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. She will read her new book to any children present and there will be crafts available based on events of the book. Beekeepers group plans Thursday meeting
The Chautauqua County Beekeepers Association will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Fluvanna Community Church, 3363 Fluvanna Ave. in Jamestown. August is a critical period in the beekeeper’s year, as management practices implemented now will have a strong influence on fall production and winter survival. At this meeting, important activities such as mite control and late summer apiary management will be discussed. The meeting is open to the public free of charge. Beginners are always welcome.
