History Fair parade seeks participants

The Sinclairville History Fair Committee is looking for groups, floats, local officials, cars and motorcycles to participate in the History Fair Parade on Saturday Sept. 9. The parade begins line-up at 9 a.m. at the Sinclairville Elementary School with step-off at 10 a.m.

Groups can register by calling 716-665-1261 or just showing up early enough to get logged on the participant sheet. The parade kicks off a day long event that ends at 9 p.m. with fireworks. There will be several free events throughout the day along with musical groups, a cruise-in, craft vendors and a street dance.

Cub Scouts plan open house

Fredonia Cub Scouts Pack 267 will host an Open House for all interested families with children in grades K-5 on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 5:30 in the lower pavilion at Russell Joy Park. The Open House will feature activities, a potluck dinner (new families need not bring anything!), and an informational meeting for parents/guardians. All are welcome to attend; there is no obligation to join.

Fall Fest in

planning stages

FORESTVILLE — The Forestville Fall Festival will be held at the Forestville High School on Oct. 7 and 8. There will be a craft show, food vendors and produce both days. The Catholic Church will be serving a pork dinner on Saturday from noon until 6 at 11 Center St. The Forestville Fire Department will be hosting a chicken barbecue on Saturday from noon until sold out at the Fire Hall on Chestnut St.

A Chili Cook-Off will be held at the high school on Saturday. Enter at noon. Name your chili and bring at least a five-quart crockpot full.

IRS staffer to speak at luncheon

On Wednesday, the League of Women Voters will hold a “Hot Topic” luncheon at the Shorewood Country Club, starting at 11:30 a.m. The speaker will be Jarod Koopman. He is the executive director, cyber and forensic services investigation of the IRS.

In his capacity, Koopman established a new investigative section with Crimanal Investigation and continues to focus priority on cybercrime and digital forensics. His primary function is the oversight and management of all cyber-related acitivities at a global level. This consists of close interaction with the public/private sector, industry, and other law enforcement partners both foriegn and domestic. Persons may come for the lunch which is a buffet for $23 or come for the lecture.
