Sons of Legion meets Tuesday

Sons of American Legion Squadron 59 will be holding its monthly meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Post 59, 156 E. Main St., Fredonia.

The Sons of the American Legion, is an organization made up of male descendants from veterans of World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Military Operations of Lebanon, Grenada, Panama and from the Persian Gulf War/War on Terrorism. Members support programs in Veterans Rehabilitation, Children and Youth, Student Scholarships and Community Affairs. Membership now numbers nearly 30,000 within the Detachment of New York with over 350,00 members nationwide.

Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of month at the post at 7 p.m.

Book sale set for Sinclairville library

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Sinclairville Free Library’s annual book sale will be on Thursday, Oct. 5 from 2 to 7 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a bag sale Saturday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to noon. Baked goods will also be available for purchase. All proceeds from the book and baked goods sale are used for the benefit of the library and to enhance collections and programs. Library Board meetings are at 6 p.m. on the last Wednesday of each month except for December. Board meetings are open to the public, and community input is valued.

Lego Club planned for library

COLLINS — Collins Library will hold Lego Club for kids 4 and up on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 5:30 pm. Please call 716-532-5129 to register so we have space for everyone.

Westfield auxiliary to hold annual

meeting

WESTFIELD — The Westfield Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will hold its annual meeting on Sept. 26. The meeting will be held in the Bistro at the hospital. It will begin at 6 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Featured speakers will be Kelley Potter and Jameson Jaffrey, representatives of the Hope Chautauqua Coalition. A business meeting will follow. The agenda includes Annual reports from the president, secretary and treasurer. Election of five Board Directors will also take place.

All current members and anyone wishing to join are encouraged to attend. As in previous years, reservations are limited, so please RSVP to Roberta Patterson at 716-792 -9657 by Sept. 22.

SOAR holds

meeting next week

SOAR Chapter 4-1 will meet Tuesday at the USW Local 2693 Union Hall on Fourth Street in Dunkirk. The meeting will be at noon with lunch to follow. Don Williams, President of the Dunkirk AFL-CIO will be the guest speaker. All SOAR members and retirees are invited to attend. For further information call Jim Bickhart at 716-366-1485.

Family announces birth

Eliana Rose Eaker was born to Edward Eaker and Kristen Kron at Oishei Children’s Hospital. The parents live in Dunkirk.
