Choir plans fall rehearsals
Fredonia Community Choir directed by Phillip McMullen will begin rehearsals for their late fall concert on Sunday. Rehearsals are from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Studio on Main, 50 W. Main St., Fredonia.
The group is a mixture of community members from surrounding communities, local high school students and some SUNY college students. They sing longer works not usually done in community choirs. As a non-profit group, it is most grateful for having recently received a grant from the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation.
This fall on Dec. 15, the group will present two masterful works. The first piece is Dreamworks by Olio Gjelio. This one has a Christmas narrative. The second piece is a new work, Amaliah’s Visit, composed by recently deceased Marie Sharon.
Participants are asked to bring another singing friend and join in for a positive singing experience.
In the spring the group will be at long last, singing Gjelio’s Sunrise Mass which we were just days away from doing when COVID-19 hit in March 2019. For those unable to sing this fall, plan on joining the Fredonia Community Choir in rehearsals starting at the end of January for a late March performance date.
