Birders from across Western New York and Ontario are encouraged to join the Buffalo Ornithological Society October Bird Count. Trinity United Church of Christ free community meal
GOWANDA — The Trinity United Church, located at Erie Avenue and Park Street will host a take-out only free community meal at the Park Street entrance on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 4 to 6 p.m. or gone. The menu is meat loaf. mashed potatoes, green beans and a cookie. Free will donations are appreciated but not necessary. Drive East Main to Railroad Avenue and then down Park Street, following the signs, or walk up. The next meal is Nov. 11.
Indoor yard sale

The East Dunkirk Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary is hosting an indoor yard sale and vendor fair on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the East Dunkirk Fire Hall, 10949 S. Roberts Road, Dunkirk. There will also be 50-50 and basket raffles. For more information on renting tables, contact 716-410-3572.
Fredonia pantry open Oct. 21
On Saturday, October 21, The Fredonia Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon at Fredonia Presbyterian Church at 219 Central Ave. The pantry serves the needs of residents of Fredonia, ZIP code 14063, Pomfret, Sheridan, and Laona. All guests receive one or more bags of non-perishable food. Number of bags given out depends on family size.

SHERIDAN — On Saturday, the Sheridan United Methodist Church will hold a chicken barbecue on the church grounds lat 2679 Route 20. The barbecue will be a drive-through supplied by Chiavetta’s and will be from noon to 4 p.m. or until sold out. Tickets may be purchased in advance from members or will be available on the day of the event.
