Gowanda plans virtual town hall meeting

GOWANDA — Gowanda Central School District residents can mark their calendars for three “town hall”-style meetings to be held via Facebook Live during the 2023-2024 academic year. Superintendent Dr. Robert B. Anderson is hosting three inclusive, virtual communication opportunities via Facebook Live for residents to get an update on topics such as goals, strategic planning, equity, student achievement and more.

The town hall meetings are scheduled:

¯ Wednesday, Oct. 25, Wednesday, Jan. 10 and Wednesday, April 24.

All meetings take place from 6 to 7 p.m. All three meetings will end with question-and-answer sessions. The virtual town hall meetings are recorded and archived on the district Facebook page and can be viewed at residents’ convenience.

Those unable to participate in real time are encouraged to submit questions or topics for discussion in advance via email to district clerk Kathy Ferneza at msferneza@gcslearn.org or at 716-532-3325, ext. 6300. (Deadline to submit questions is noon on Oct. 25, Jan. 10 and April 24.)

Church plans October dinner

St. John’s United Church of Christ will be holding its October dinner on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Pork and sauerkraut dinner, dessert included at a price of $13. Eat in or take-out. Please enter from Eagle Street.

Boosters not meeting

for Bills game

Due to a number of club members attending the Bills vs. Giants game on Sunday night, the Southern Tier Bills Booster Club will not be viewing the game at the Moniuszko Club.

Fredonia Ukulele

meets Saturday

Fredonia Ukulele will gather Saturday, at Domus Fare Restaurant, 41 W. Main St., Fredonia from 6 to 8 p.m. Play immediately (all ability levels); No experience necessary. We’re all about making music as a community. The goal is to have fun and to make music. Ukuleles provided or bring your own. Play, sing, or just enjoy listening. Come and go as you please.

Beekeepers group

meets Thursday

The Chautauqua County Beekeepers Association will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Fluvanna Community Church, 3363 Fluvanna Ave., in Jamestown. Seasonal activities such as harvesting the fall flow, final mite control and hive winterization will be discussed. The meeting is open to the public free of charge.

Genealogical Society

meets Oct. 18

CASSADAGA — The Chautauqua County Genealogical Society will meet Wednesday, Oct. 18 at the Cassadaga America Legion Post 1280, at 228 Maple Ave. Norm Carlson, collections manager at the Fenton History Center in Jamestown and Genealogical Society member, will be the speaker for the evening. He will provide information on various Town of Busti records. These include Holland Land Co. records, indexed by local Historian Karen Livsey. Other info to be covered will include the Foote papers, early censuses, land contracts, and information of the Genealogically Society. The public is invited to attend these meetings.
