Library has

miniature home in Fredonia

The Captain Pierce dollhouse at Fredonia’s Darwin R. Barker Library, located near the Herbert Star Children’s Room, was donated in 1992 by Joan Dunning (1932-2020). Dunning was an educator at Fredonia Central and the Wheelock School and helped restore historic buildings such as the Opera House/Village Hall as a member of the Fredonia Preservation Society.

The miniatures were collected by Joyce Dunning (1916-1993), whose vision for the dollhouse furnishing depicts the home of a fictional sea captain in New England or New York (Lake Erie) from 1860-1890. The Dutch style dollhouse was built by George B. Weaver.
