Fredonia candidates

to debate

The League of Women Voters of Chautauqua County invites the public to meet and question the candidates for Fredonia village trustee at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the Fredonia Opera House. The candidates are: Michael Barris, David Bird, Ben Brauchler, Jon Espersen, James Lynden and Paul Wandel. All will be present at the event.

Questions may be submitted before the event by emailing meetthecandidates20@gmail.com or calling 716-679-5227. Written questions will also be collected from the audience at the event. It is hoped that the Meet the Candidates forum will attract a lively audience. As always, these events are free and open to the public.

Meat raffle set

for Nov. 4

Veterans of Foreign Wars of New York Commander Dan Kell and President Rose Cooper will be having a fundraiser on Nov. 4. The event is a meat raffle at the Silver Creek VFW on Main Street in Silver Creek starting at 3 p.m. Donation at the door is $5, which includes tickets for the Chinese auction. A variety of meat from Sloan Market will be part of the happening. Snacks will be served and there is a cash bar available. The public is welcome to attend.

Vendor Showcase

set for Oct. 28

CASSADAGA — The Cassadaga American Legion Auxiliary will hold its annual Vendor Showcase at the American Legion, 220 Maple Ave., on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunches will be available.

VFW Auxiliary

sets monthly agenda

SHERIDAN — The VFW Auxiliary met at the post on Oct. 9. After the pledge, the reading of the previous meeting’s minutes and the treasurer’s report we discussed old and new business. The auxiliary held a bake sale on Friday, Oct. 13. Bake sales fund monthly donations to a veteran charity or cause. In addition, some of the proceeds were sent to the Susan G. Komen fund for breast cancer.

Next month, the bake sale will benefit our President’s Special Project, Higher Ground. Members from the auxiliary also worked at and participated in the Stop 22 walk sponsored by the Silver Creek VFW Auxiliary. The next meeting will be at the post on Nov. 9 at 6:30 p.m.

‘Young Frankenstein’

musical scheduled

Main Street Studios at 50 W. Main St., Fredonia, presents: “Young Frankenstein, the Mel Brooks Musical.” Shows are at 7:30 p.m Oct. 26 to 28 and Nov. 3 with a 2 p.m. matinees on Saturday, Oct 28 and Nov 4. Special age 17 and over show on Halloween at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at mainstreetstudios.seatyourself.biz or at the door (cash or card) for $15 adults and $10 seniors or students.

Tennis Club

The Chautauqua Tennis Club will be hosting a New Member Open House on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 9 to 11 a.m. Learn about this well-kept secret where you can play tennis during the winter months right here in your own back yard. Members will be available to answer questions and membership forms will be available.

Fill the Truck event

set for Oct. 28

The first annual Fill the Truck Festival to thank the Fredonia community for its support of the 2023 Feeding Fredonia Challenge will be Saturday, Oct. 28 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the parking lot of Fredonia Presbyterian Church, 219 Central Ave. There will be food for purchase, games, a bounce house, pumpkin painting, and local musicians. All are welcome.
