Thanksgiving Food Drive

next weekend

The annual Thanksgiving Food Drive to benefit the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry will be Saturday, Nov. 11 from noon to 3 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 12, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Pomfret Town Hall parking lot, 9 Day St., Fredonia. Youth from local church and service organizations traditionally help staff the food drive.

The food drive seeks frozen turkeys, hams, chickens, canned goods, boxed dry goods, and other non-perishable food items for the Rural Ministry Thanksgiving food baskets. Monetary donations will also be accepted. Volunteers will be present to unload drive-up donations. This annual food drive is a way to share and make the Thanksgiving holiday special for those in need.

Rally against turbines

set for today

Citizens Against Wind Turbines in Lake Erie announced the group will do a sign rally at Dunkirk Memorial Park today from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

South Dayton American Legion meat and basket raffle set

SOUTH DAYTON – The South Dayton American Legion will hold a meat and basket raffle on Saturday at the Post on 4 Mill St. Wheel spins start at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be available. All are welcome, including members and the general public.

Auxiliary meeting Tuesday

in Cassadaga

CASSADAGA – Due to conflicting events, the Cassadaga Legion Auxiliary’s November meeting will be held the first Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Legion hall. All members are encouraged to help with the mission to serve veterans and the community.

Valley Historical Society

is planned

SINCLAIRVILLE – The Valley Historical Society will gather for the November meeting on Tuesday at the Sinclairville Free Library. The guest speaker will be Lori Brockelbank who is the owner of the Mitchell/Colburn cider mill in Sinclairville. Brockelbank will speak on the history of the mill and about her efforts to restore the building that first opened in 1881. Any interested person is invited to attend.

Library planning movie

night Nov. 9

BROCTON – The Ahira Hall Memorial Library and Hope Chautauqua will be hosting a Library After Hours Movie Night on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 6:30 p.m. “The Nightmare Before Christmas” (rated PG) will be shown outdoors in Library Commons, weather permitting, so dress warm and bring a lawn chair or waterproof blanket.

County Legion Auxiliary

meets Nov. 9

Chautauqua County American Legion Auxiliary monthly meeting will be on Thursday. Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Samuel L. Derby Post 556 in Frewsburg.

The American Legion Auxiliary Eighth District President and Vice President will be the distinguished guests and Auxiliary members are encouraged to attend and welcome them.
