Church to celebrate 200 years

IRVING – The Wright Memorial Presbyterian Church, at 12672 Route 438, will be celebrating 200 years of service on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 1 to 4 p.m. and is inviting the community to join them for a special short service with music followed by a luncheon.

Learn more about the Wright Memorial Presbyterian Church’s history on the Seneca Cattaraugus Territory, who they are, what they stand for and more.

Wounded Warrior benefit Saturday

A benefit to support the Wounded Warrior Project is set for Saturday, Veterans Day, from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Sheridan Veterans of Foreign Wars post, 2556 Route 20.

The event will feature a raffle drawing with more than $6,000 in prizes at 6 p.m., and a Chinese auction drawing at 8 p.m.

Admission is free but a $10 donation is requested to eat at the buffet. There will also be drinks for sale at a cash bar. The Freeze will play from 4 to 9 p.m.

Volunteers from the Wounded Warrior Project, Disabled American Veterans, and veterans suicide prevention organization 22 Kill will work the event.

All proceeds from the event will benefit veterans.

‘Newsies Jr.’

to be at NCCS

Northern Chautauqua Catholic school will present the musical “Newsies Jr.” this weekend in the school auditorium, 336 Washington Ave., Dunkirk. The cast features the vocal and dancing talents of some 50 fourth through eighth graders at NCCS, along with ensemble performances with younger students.

The musical will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10 and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. Tickets are available at the door and are $14. Proceeds will benefit the school.

Fredonia Ukulele gathers Saturday

On Saturday, Nov. 11, Fredonia Ukulele will gather at Domus Fare Restaurant, 41 W. Main St., Fredonia from 6 to 8 p.m. Play immediately, all ability levels, with no experience necessary. The group is about making music as a community. The goal is to have fun and to make music. Ukuleles provided or bring your own. Play, sing, or just enjoy listening. Come and go as you please.

Legion Auxiliary meets Tuesday

Dunkirk Memorial American Legion Auxiliary Unit 62 monthly meeting will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Post 62, 211 Central Ave. Membership dues for 2024 are now being accepted by mail, in person or online. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month and all auxiliary members are encouraged to attend.
