Cassadaga Village Board meeting rescheduled

CASSADAGA — The Cassadaga Village Board of Trustees has postponed its next meeting until Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Advent Recital planned in city

The First United Presbyterian Church of Dunkirk, located at 18 W. Fourth St., will present the first in a series of three weekly Marsh Memorial Advent Recitals for 2023.

On Wednesday, Dec. 6, at noon in the church sanctuary, Brendan Mathewson and Trevor Napoli will perform. They will be showcasing a repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary, featuring compositions by J.S. Bach, Rheinberger, Alfred Fedak, and more.

This free musical program is designed to provide members of the church community and the general public with an opportunity for a period of peaceful reflection and contemplation during the hour at mid-week, throughout the Advent and Lenten seasons.

Christmas concert set for Dec. 3

WESTFIELD – The West Portland Baptist Church, 7081 East Route 20, Westfield, will host the Cassadaga Community Choir presenting a Christmas Concert on Sunday, Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. Immediately following the Concert there will be a fellowship dinner in the Activity Center.

Everyone is welcome to join and kick-off December with music that reminds us of the reason for the season.

Hanging of the Greens slated for Nov. 30

The traditional Hanging of the Greens at the State University of New York at Fredonia is slated for Thursday, Nov. 30, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

President Stephen H. Kolison Jr. will light the holiday tree. There will be free crafts and cookies, and create-a-creature will be available for $5 (cash only) while supplies last. Organizers require that parents/guardians remain with their children at all times during the event, no drop offs.

The event is hosted by Spectrum Entertainment Board and sponsored by Student Association. Cookies and refreshments will be provided by the Faculty Student Association. Other clubs participating in the event are the members of the Fredonia Cheerleading Team, Teacher Education Club, Latinos Unidos and Women’s Club Volleyball.

The event will wind up around 7:30 p.m., or as long as craft supplies/treats last.
