Legion sets
monthly meeting
Dunkirk Memorial American Legion Post 62 monthly meeting will be Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m. at Post 62, 211 Central Avenue.
Dues for 2024 must be paid by Dec. 31 at the Post, by mail, or online at my legion.org to remain a member in good standing.
Meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month and both current and new legion members are encouraged to attend. Post 62 is grateful to all who support the Legion Family throughout the year and extend best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season.
Valley Historical Society meets
SINCLAIRVILLE – The Valley Historical Society will meet on Tuesday at the Sinclairville Fire Hall at 6 p.m. This is the annual Christmas meeting and all attendees are asked to bring a dish of food to pass for the annual dinner.
Attendees should also bring their own table service and beverage. After the dinner, members will discuss history discussed during the previous year and what’s coming up in 2024.
Any interested person is invited to attend.
Breakfast includes stop by Santa
WESTFIELD – A pancake breakfast will be Saturday at the First United Methodist Church of Westfield at 101 E.Main St. Parking is available on the Clinton Street entrance. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Price is a free will offering
Pancakes sausage, sausage and gravy over warmed biscuits, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and assorted juices are available. Centaur Stride will be displaying its annual raffle baskets.
There are more than 60 to view, Tickets are $1 each, six for $5 or 15 for $10. The drawing will be on Dec. 9 at the stable. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be arriving at 9:45 and visiting with kids of all ages until 10:30 a.m. Pictures with Santa are $2 each.

The Lakeshore Humane Society has a special cat adoption opportunity during the month of December. Through the generosity of an anonymous donor, if one cat is adopted, the adoption fee for a second cat will be waived, regardless of the age of the cat.
The usual cat adoption fees are $60 each or $90 for two. For kittens (under five months), the fees are $75 each or $110 for two. For senior cats (over 8 years old), the adoption fee is $30 each.
All adoptions include spay/neuter; rabies, distemper, and leukemia vaccinations; FIV/FeLV testing; flea and worming treatments; 10 day health guarantee; and a 30 day refund for return of a cat if there is not a good match with the adopter.
The Lakeshore Humane Society holds Open Adoption Hours Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m., and Saturdays from noon to 3 p.m. (Individual appointments outside these times are also available). The LHS Adoption Center is at 431 E. Chestnut St. in Dunkirk.
