meeting set for Jan. 31 on water

The Pomfret Town Board and the Village of Fredonia Board of Trustees will hold a workshop meeting for the purpose of discussing the town’s water supply for Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the North End Water District Expansion Projects on Wednesday at the Fredonia Opera House, 9-11 Church St., Fredonia, at 6 p.m. Public is welcome to attend but no public comment will be heard.

The City of Dunkirk Hero Banner Program is currently taking applications at www.cityofdunkirkherobannerprogram.com. There is a limit of 100 accepted to be displayed on a city pole this spring and summer, in addition to the 124 from last year.

The Dunkirk Public Library is available to help with submitting an application and picture, or contact dunkirkherobanners@yahoo.com should you have any questions.

The Al Tech/Dunkirk Specialty Steel Retirees will meet for breakfast on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 8:30 a.m., at Demitri’s Restaurant, Lake Shore Drive West in Dunkirk. All retirees are invited to attend.

Fire District plans

PORTLAND — The Board of Commissioners of the Portland Fire District will hold a special meeting today at 7 p.m. in the meeting room of the Fire District for the purpose of an audit of the 2023 financial books of the District, and any other business that may be brought up before the Board. As always, the district’s meetings are open to the public.
