Sons of Legion meet Tuesday

Sons of the American Legion Squadron 59 will be holding its monthly meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Post 59, 156 E Main St., Fredonia. Meetings are on the fourth Tuesday of month at the post. Anyone interested in joining is welcome to attend.

Steel retirees gather March 2

The Al Tech / Dunkirk Specialty Steel Retirees will meet on Saturday, March 2 at 8:30 a.m. at Demitri’s restaurant at the city pier. All retirees are invited to attend.

auxiliary meets

CASSADAGA — The Cassadaga American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1280 held its regular monthly meeting Feb. 13 with nine members attending. Paula Pattison reported that she continues to send get well and sympathy cards as needed with one funeral luncheon served in early February for the father of a Squadron 1280 member and family

Unit 1280’s membership will be at 92% paid for the year and is still taking 2024 dues. Please send $30 to Unit 1280, 228 Maple Ave., Cassadaga 14718 or stop by the Post.

It was noted that Unit 1280 and community members have made beautiful lap blankets that have been given to local veterans and seniors.

Plans are in the works for the annual Rummage sale May 18. Members present voted to donate money to the two local libraries.

The next Unit meeting will be Tuesday March 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Legion Post.

Easter Egg Hunt plans

Preparations are being made for the annual Children’s Easter Egg Hunt and party at the First Ward Falcon Club in Dunkirk. The event will be on Saturday, March 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. and is for members’ children or grandchildren up to the age of 10 years old.

There is a $5 registration fee per child. All children must be registered at the club rooms by Sunday, March 10. For information go to the club or call Rich or Jeanette Jesse at 716-366-8427.
