Brooks-TLC hosts March 19 blood drive

There will be a blood drive happening at Brooks-TLC Hospital System in Dunkirk on Tuesday, March 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is being held by ConnectLife, Western New York’s only community blood bank.

All donors that day will get a coupon for a free pint of Perry’s ice cream. They can schedule at connectlifegiveblood.org, texting GIVEWNY to 999777, or calling 716-529-4270.

Water aerobics underway at BOCES

Are you ready to get moving in 2024? Water aerobics is a low-impact exercise that can improve muscle tone and range of movement and enhance motor control, and it is a great way to meet new friends. Registration for Water Aerobics at LoGuidice Educational Center is now open. Classes are held in E Building 9520 Fredonia-Stockton Road, Fredonia. Chicken barbecue set for March 13

The East Dunkirk Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary is hosting its March Chicken BBQ featuring Chiavetta’s Chicken on Wednesday, March 13. Eat in or drive-through available from 4 to 6 p.m. or sold out. Tickets are $15 and are available from members at Big Rick’s One Stop or by calling 716-680-2729.

United Seniors to meet March 11

The United Seniors met Dec. 11, 2023, which was the last meeting of the year. The next meeting will be March 11 at the Kosciuszko Club, around 11 a.m. The menu is expected to be baked chicken, mixed vegetables, baby red potatoes, tossed salad, but is subject to change for that meeting. If anyone has not prepaid the $15, please send all monies to Linda Riley, 264 King St. Dunkirk, N.Y. 14048 before March 6. The December meeting was fun, and everyone enjoyed the meal. Thanks to Jill Hudson for preparing such a wonderful meal. Thanks to John Binko for lending a portable microphone/ speaker. Birthdays for December were: Silvana Bajdas, Sandra Barone and Delores Fairbanks. Everyone sang “Happy Birthday.” Thanks were offered to Rosemary Mancuso and Lucy Saeli for running the bingo games. Robin Carr gave the Blessing. The winners of the 50-50 tickets were: Elaine Frederickson, Rosemary Mancuso and Nancy Jankowski. The United Seniors look forward to seeing everybody in March. The dues are $5 for the year. Someone could come as a guest and then decide if they would like to join.

County Planning Board to meet

JAMESTOWN — The Chautauqua County Planning Board’s monthly meeting will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday. The meeting will be held at the South & Center Chautauqua Lake Sewer District at 51 Gifford Ave.
