Congregation sets Sunday service

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua (UUCNC), at 222 Temple St. in Fredonia, holds a Sunday worship Service at 11 a.m., both at their physical location and on Zoom. For those wishing to join virtually, please visit https://tinyurl.com/caluucnc. Click on “Worship Service” on the date you are attending and scroll down for the Zoom link. For those attending the in-person service, please follow the driveway and park in the lower lot behind the building. Handicapped parking is located between the two buildings and directly behind the second building.

The theme for March is Transformation. On Sunday, “The Magic of Life” service will be led by Barb Albert and Janey Wagner. The speakers will share a video perspective from poet Harry Owen of South Africa, who encourages others to find the magic in the seasons of our lives together.

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua strives to be a vibrant, welcoming, multigenerational, diverse community enlivened by the power of radical love.

Club Associates discusses March events

The Northern Chautauqua County Club Associates recently held its regular monthly meeting at the Dom Polski Club in Dunkirk. The meeting was opened with the pledge of allegiance, followed by a moment of silence for deceased members. Director Kurt Wolnik welcomed the group to his club.

All member clubs were present. Secretary, Jim Pryll, read the minutes of the previous meeting. There was no financial report given.

Guests included Dunkirk Mayor Kate Wdowiasz. First Ward Councilwoman Natalie Luczkowiak, guest speaker, talked about the exciting events planned in the city, including the Eclipse Fest scheduled for April.

The Association is still working on veterans capital programs, and obtaining posters for each club to post regarding where veterans can turn to for assistance.

Club events include a chicken dinner sponsored by the World War II Veterans on Sunday, a meat loaf dinner at the Dom Polski Club on Wednesday, and upcoming meat parties at the Dom Polski Club March 16, and aT the J. Carter Knapp Post, March 23.

The next meeting of the Association will be held March 24, at the Kosciuszko Polish Home, Nevins Street in Dunkirk. All club members are invited to attend.

Cassadaga Valley to hold special school board

meetings

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Cassadaga Valley Central School Board will hold special meetings at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the middle-high school multipurpose room and via zoom. The purpose of the meetings are to discuss personnel and matters related to the hiring of a new superintendent.

Coffee Club to meet for breakfast

The Roblin Steel Coffee Club will be gathering at 8:30 a.m. March 8 at Demetris Restaurant in Dunkirk.

Silver Creek Senior Citizens meet

SILVER CREEK – The Silver Creek Seniors met on Tuesday, Feb. 27 with 29 members and guests present.

President Janice Snyder opened the meeting with the Pledge to the flag and all singing God Bless America. Chaplain Pauline Flitt read “When I Need the Savior” and offered a prayer for the members and food. The group welcomed guests Ellie Tweedy, Cindy Anger and Cindy Sheedy and was glad to have Bob Fancher back. Everyone enjoyed sloppy joes, tossed salad, bean salad and dessert.

The 50-50 raffle winners were Jeanne Blakely, Harry Suski and Ginny Chesbro. Door prizes were won by Arlene Miller, Jan Polisoto and Becky Fancher. Lucky card holders for the wheel were: Harry, Arlene, Lorrie Newman, Joan Suski, Al Wilson and Joan Militello. Arlene called bingo and the winners were: Max Church, Lorrie, Janice, Pauline, Ginny, Elaine Wojda, Jan, Al (twice), Sally Shevlin and Annette Hoeber.

Tuesday the group will have pizza; donation will be $2 per person. The club meets every Tuesday at 1 p.m. at 1823 Lake Road, Silver Creek. Anyone wishing information about the meetings, please call 716-934-2170.
