Re-Entry Hub Open House Thursday

MAYVILLE – An open house will take place Thursday, March 28, from 1-3 p.m. at 1 South Erie St., (Old Assessor’s Office) where the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office CARES Re-Entry Hub will be located. Entrance is on the left side of the Mayville Village Building.

Church sets free community meal

GOWANDA — The Trinity United Church, located at Erie Avenue and Park Street, Gowanda, will host a take-out only free community meal at the Park Street entrance on Saturday, April 13 from 4 to 6 p.m. or gone. The menu is goulash, tossed salad, bread and a cookie. Free will donations are appreciated but not necessary. Drive East Main to Railroad Avenue and then down Park Street, following the signs, or walk up. Everyone is welcome. The next meal is May 11.

City church planning spring recital

The First United Presbyterian Church of Dunkirk, 19 W. Fourth St., will present a spring recital on Wednesday, April 3, at noon in the church sanctuary. Adelina, an exchange student from Moldova, will perform on the piano.

United Seniors meet again April 15

The United Seniors met at the Kosciuszko Club, March 11,meeting for the first time since December. Twenty-three members were present, and two new people joined, Jill Synski-Serino, and Cassie Jernatowski.

Mary Matteson presided over the meeting. Next month’s menu will be corned beef and cabbage, and sides.

Anyone who did not pay for the April meeting, at the March meeting, needs to send all monies, $15, checks made out to the United Seniors, to Linda Riley, 264 King St. Dunkirk, N.Y. 14048. All members stood and said the “Pledge of Allegiance” and sang “God Bless America.”

Mattesson led the prayer. Birthdays for the month of March were announced, along with those that had birthdays, in January and February. They were: January: Thelma Saden; February: Kathy Hobbs, Josie Leone, Michael and Todd McClenathan; March: Annabelle Hahn, Rosemary Mancuso, Nancy Niebel, John Wiedenhoffer, Marsha Zmuda and Judie Paternosh.

Thank you to the Kosciuszko Club for allowing the group to meet, and to Jill Hudson for her catering service. Thank you to John Binko for the use of his portable microphone/speaker. If anyone is interested in joining The United Seniors, the group meets the second Monday of every month, except in this coming April, will meet on the 15 because of the upcoming Eclipse on the 8.

The dues are $5 a year. Thank you to Marcia Zmuda for making the nice St. Patrick’s cupcakes. Thank you to Rosemary Mancuso and Lucy Saeli, for presenting the bingo games. Bingo winners this month were: Jill Serino Szynski, Ann McIntyre, Judy Presutti, Judie Paternosh and Marsha Sullivan. The 50-50 winners were: John Wiedenhoffer, Ann McIntyre and Cassie Jernatowski. Anyone wishing to join may come and pay $5 dues, and $15 for the lunch. Call Riley at 716-785-0039 to make a reservation, at least a week ahead.
