Flower sale

underway in Gowanda

GOWANDA — It is that time of year to support the Gowanda Kiwanis Club with their annual geranium/flower sale. Buyers can purchase individual geraniums, flats, stock plants, fern, impatiens, geranium, fuchsia, petunia hanging baskets and new this year is a “patriot patio pot”

Orders are due by this weekend and plant delivery will be May 15 and 16 at Mentley Funeral Home.

Open house on zoning code set for Pomfret

The Town of Pomfret is hosting an open house to solicit public input on proposed updates to the zoning code. The Town has established a technical committee to work with professional planners on updating the Town’s zoning code to align with the recently adopted comprehensive plan. The open house will be held on May 9th at the Fredonia High School Cafeteria, 425 E. Main Street, Fredonia.

The public is encouraged to drop in at any time between 6 and 7:30 p.m. to learn about the planning process for the zoning updates and provide input on draft zoning materials. For more information contact: Town of Pomfret, 9 Day Street, Fredonia, at (716) 672-7496.

Meat raffle

planned for Saturday

The East Dunkirk Fire Department will be holding a meat raffle at 7 p.m. Saturday. There will be free refreshments. It is being held at 10949 South Roberts Road.

Fredonia wins in bowl match

Fredonia Central School topped Frewsburg 96-21 in a recent Media One High School Bowl match at Jamestown Community College.

Ray Dai and Rebecca Lash of Fredonia earned Player of the Match honors. Dai, Lash, Ben Feit, Abby Lauer, and Lacey Drennen competed for Fredonia (4-1).

The Frewsburg (1-2) team included Xander Pitts, Madasyn Lander, Aiden Haase, Mathias Sanfilippo, Claire Spielman, Grace Gilevski, Ella Fuller, and Olivia Nelson. This loss eliminated Frewsburg from this year’s competition.

High School Bowl, in its 62th year, is produced by Media One Group in cooperation with JCC.

Sponsors include Jamestown Community College and the JCC Alumni Association, Weinberg Financial Group, Chautauqua County Humane Society, Pepsi, Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency, Honest John’s Restaurant and Pizzeria, and Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union.

High School Bowl airs at 11 a.m. Saturdays on WJTN (1240 AM and 101.3 FM) and at 7 a.m. Sundays on SE-93 (93.3 FM).
