Brocton-Portland

Seniors meet

BROCTON — The Brocton-Portland Seniors met at Tri Church on April 30 with a catered luncheon and 60 members present to celebrate their 49th anniversary. Judy Hilliard is a new member.

Margaret Jagoda, president, opened the event with prayer by Robin Carr; Doug Chatley donated the American flag for the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance by Tom DeJoe and all members.

Entertainment was by Pat Cook as Patsy Cline’s music and songs. Jim Kurtz spoke about past veterans. The secretary and treasurer reports were given and approved; door prizes were won. Birthdays and anniversaries were given. It was requested that with future tureen meals, the ingredients be provided due to allergic issues. See Robin Carr for future trip information.

The next lunch and meeting will be May 28. It’ll be a tureen meal and Bingo will be played with prizes given by members.

Sons of Revolution

meet Saturday

STOCKTON — The Chautauqua chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will be meeting on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at the Stockton Hotel. All meals are ordered from the menu. Members of the SAR and guests are invited. Come and join in our shared history.

United Seniors meet on Monday

The United Seniors met on April 15 at the Kosciuszko Club. Twenty-three members were present at this meeting. Everyone enjoyed a luncheon of beef on weck and chicken fajitas, tossed salad, potato salad and macaroni salad. Thanks to Jill from Hungry Hounds for the wonderful meal. Anyone who did not pay for the May luncheon ahead can send all monies, or checks $15, payable to The United Seniors, to Evonne Hennebery, P.O. Box 706, Dunkirk, N.Y. 14048.

The menu for Monday will be meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy on the side and tossed salad. No visitors came to this meeting. Mary Matteson led the prayer, and everyone said, The Pledge of Allegiance. Members sang “God Bless America.

Birthdays for the Month of April were: Ed McClenathan, Ann McIntyre and Sally Wright. Robin would like to announce a Fall bus trip to see “Daniel” at the Sight & Sound Theatre in Lancaster PA. on Oct. 16 through 18. This is a three-day and two-night trip, and includes lodging, breakfasts, dinners, performance, deluxe motor coach and other guided tours, and easy walking. The cost is $519 double or $668 single. Reservations and deposits of $100 are due now with the balance to be paid by July 15. Contact Robin at 716-230-4081 for information.

The United Seniors meet the second Monday of every month, $5 dues yearly, required to join. They meet at The Kosciuszko Club on Nevins Street. Dunkirk and are always looking forward to getting new members. Thanks to the Kosciuszko Club for allowing the seniors to meet at the club and to John Binko for lending the portable microphone/speaker. After the meeting, there are bingo games hosted by Rosemary Mancuso and Lucy Saeli. April 50/50 winners were: Elaine Frederickson, Marsha Sullivan and Judy Paternosh. Come and meet new friends, or even see people you might already know.
