Legion Auxiliary lists coming events

Dunkirk Memorial Unit 62 Auxiliary monthly meeting will be on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Post 62, 211 Central Ave. American Legion National Poppy Day is May 24; poppies will be distributed at Tops Markets during Memorial Day weekend by members of Post 62 American Legion Family.

The Annual Memorial Day Chicken BBQ and Auxiliary Basket Raffle will be on May 27 beginning at noon. Donated raffle items are appreciated and can be dropped off at the Post. Proceeds benefit local Veterans and Legion Programs.

Auxiliary set to install officers

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan VFW Auxiliary 6390 will hold its installation of officers for the 2024-25 term at its regular meeting on Monday at 6:30 p.m. Auxiliary meetings are held at the VFW post at 2556 Route 20. All members are encouraged to attend.

Quilting Companions group meets Wednesday

The Northern Chautauqua Quilting Companions will meet at Harvest Chapel, Matteson Street, Fredonia at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Danielle and Chris North of North Star Quilting will present a trunk show. Guests are welcome.

Church group plans coffee hour

SHERIDAN — The Esther Circle group of the Sheridan United Methodist Church will host a coffee hour after the Sunday service on May 19, featuring home-baked desserts. The service is led by pastor David Watson and begins at 10:30.The church is located at 2679 Route 20. All are welcome to attend.

Silver Creek seeks resident input

SILVER CREEK — At the Village Board meeting on Monday, May 20, the Village Board will hear public comments and input regarding a proposed new park at the former Revere Inn property, located at 240 Central Ave. Village residents are encouraged to attend the meeting. Meetings are regularly held at the Village Municipal Building every first and third Monday of the month at 7 p.m.

Fredonia tops Kane in bowl contest

Fredonia Central School topped Kane Area High School 135-21 in a recent Media One High School Bowl match at Jamestown Community College. Ray Dai, Rebecca Lash, Ben Feit, Lacey Drennen, and Abby Lauer competed for Fredonia (5-1).

High School Bowl, in its 62nd year, is produced by Media One Group in cooperation with JCC.

Sponsors include Jamestown Community College and the JCC Alumni Association, Weinberg Financial Group, Chautauqua County Humane Society, Pepsi, Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency, Honest John’s Restaurant and Pizzeria, and Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union.

High School Bowl airs at 11 a.m. Saturdays on WJTN (1240 AM and 101.3 FM) and at 7 a.m. Sundays on SE-93 (93.3 FM).
