Legion Auxiliary to meet in Falconer

The Chautauqua County American Legion Auxiliary monthly meeting will be at the Henry Mosher Post 638 in Falconer on Thursday at 7 p.m. Elections and installation of 2024-25 County Auxiliary Officers will be held. Nominations are being accepted; all members are encouraged to consider serving to share new perspectives and have a voice in the initiatives to shape the future of the Auxiliary. Units are urged to have a representative in attendance.

CVCS board meets Wednesday

SINCLAIRVILLE — The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Education of the Cassadaga Valley Central School district will be on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Middle/High School Multi-Purpose Room.

Flower pounding class planned

SINCLAIRVILLE — Introduction to Flower Pounding with Brenda Nickerson will be held at the Sinclairville Free Library on Thursday, June 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. Flower pounding, also known as tataki-zome or “plant bashing,” is a craft that uses a hammer to transfer a flower’s natural pigment onto paper or fabric to create a print. Participants will learn which flowers and/or leaves work well and how hard to pound to get the desired results. Cost is $10 a person and spaces are limited. Call 716-962-5885 or visit the library’s website to register. Please note that the library will be very loud during this class.

Additional classes will be offered in July and August. This program is partially funded by Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System’s Summer Reading 2024 Mini-Grant.

County road near Leon closed until June 21

LEON — The Cattaraugus County Department of Public Works will close County Route 6, also known as Leon-New Albion Road, from State Route 62 to Town Hill Road (Fox Hill Road) through June 21 for replacement of cross culverts. An off-site detour will be posted for vehicular traffic.
