Route 60 detour set for city of Dunkirk
The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that State Route 60 will be closed from West Courtney Street to West Doughty Street in the city of Dunkirk beginning at 7 a.m. Monday. The closure is necessary to facilitate repairs to the railroad crossing by CSX.
State Route 60 is expected to reopen at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 29, weather permitting.
Northbound and southbound traffic on State Route 60 will be directed to follow posted detours along local streets.
Motorists are advised to allow for extra time while traveling through this area.
Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
Chicken barbecue set for July 9
A Chiavetta’s Chicken barbecue will be on Tuesday, July 9 at Lucky Lanes, Route 60 in Fredonia. Proceeds will benefit local veterans programs. The cost is $15 per dinner cash or credit card. This event is sponsored by the Chautauqua District Order of the Eastern Star.
Meat raffle set for June 30
Dom Polski Club at 179 Lake Shore Drive East, Dunkirk, is hosting a meat raffle on Sunday, June 30 at 4 p.m. The event is open to members and eligible guests.
