STOCKTON — The regular Town Board meeting on Tuesday, July 9 will be moved to Wednesday, July 10 at 7 p.m.

closing for holiday

HANOVER — The Hanover Town Hall, including court, will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of Independence Day. It will reopen Monday at 8 a.m.

Holiday affects rubbish collection in the city

Dunkirk City Hall will be closed on Thursday for the Fourth of July Holiday.

As per the 2024 Curbside Collection Schedule, rubbish in the Thursday collection zone (District A) will be picked up on Friday. Rubbish in the Friday collection zone (District D) will be picked up on Saturday.

Copies of the Curbside Collection Schedule are still available in the City Clerk’s Office, City Treasurer’s Office & Public Works Department as well as the City’s website www.cityofdunkirk.com.

Retirees plan July 6 gathering

The Al Tech/Dunkirk Specialty Steel retirees will meet on Saturday, July 6 at 8:30 a.m. at Demitri’s Restaurant, Lake Shore Drive West, Dunkirk. All retirees are welcome to attend.

Penpal program begins with Kenya

WESTFIELD — Students from the YWCA after-school program in Westfield had the opportunity to write letters to students in Kenya last May, and received responses on the last Monday of the school year.

Karin Cockram has traveled to Kenya four times during the past 18 months and coordinated this exchange with the assistance of Theresa Baideme at Westfield Academy and Central Schools.

The correspondence is expected to continue as Cockram will be traveling back to Kenya multiple times a year for the foreseeable future. Additional pen pals would be welcome.
