Driver Safety course slated

An AARP Driver Safety class is scheduled for Monday, July 22, and Tuesday, July 23, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Dunkirk Senior Center, 45 Franklin Ave. To register for class please call 716-366-7530. You must attend both days to receive a certificate.

Check or money order only made out to AARP. It is $25 for member or $30 non-member. No cash can be accepted.

Sewer district board meets

July 23

BROCTON — There will be a meeting of the Board of Directors for the Portland, Pomfret, Dunkirk Sewer District on Tuesday, July 23 at 3 p.m. The meeting will be at the Town of Portland Town Hall, 87 W. Main St. The meeting is open to the public.

Route 20 closed for First Friday event

WESTFIELD — Due to First Friday, Route 20 (East Main Street) will be temporarily closed to all traffic from Portage (Route 394) to Union Street, with limited traffic from Union to Pearl Street, from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Detours will be posted.

First Friday is coordinated by the Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Larson Design Group, Kiwanis Club of Westfield, AHN Westfield Memorial Hospital, Westfield Boatworks, Community Bank, Mason Funeral Home, California Dreamin’, and CJ’s Pizza. The State Department of Transportation has granted the street closure permit in order to make the event safer for all participating.
