Native plant

sale planned

MAYVILLE — On Saturday, Aug. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Chautauqua Marina and the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy will be hosting a native plant sale, with proceeds benefiting the Conservancy.

A variety of native plants will be available for purchase from several local nurseries. Guided educational lakeside buffer walks will be offered at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and Conservancy Conservationist Carol Markham will be on hand to answer questions about native plant selection and native garden design. The event is free admission and will be held rain or shine at Chautauqua Marina, 104 West Lake Road.

Native plants can often be difficult to find locally, making this event a great opportunity for one-stop shopping for plants that are native to our area.

feature ice cream

SINCLAIRVILLE – The Sinclairville Free Library announces the following “Adventure Begins at Your Library” summer reading program event to be held at the library on 15 Main St. Adventure in Science at 6 p.m. Monday: It’s (Partially) Rocket Science and (Mostly) Ice Cream. Ice cream is pretty interesting: it’s a liquid that becomes a solid. From an eating perspective, it’s delicious. Practice measuring and following instructions. Shake, roll and move to make some ice cream. Recipe includes: milk, sugar & vanilla.
