Dayton sets special meeting
DAYTON — Dayton Town Board will hold a special meeting at the Town Hall, 9100 Route 62, on Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. to discuss the proposed upcoming 2025 budget. A second meeting is scheduled for Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. if needed.
United Senior Citizens gather in city
The United Senior Citizens met Aug. 12 at the Falcon Club at 341 Lake Shore Drive East, Dunkirk. President Evonne Hennebery and Secretary/Treasurer Linda Riley welcomed members and guests as they arrived at their new location for a delicious luncheon prepared by Allison Kozlowski.
A prayer of thanksgiving was offered by member Robin Carr followed by Hennebery leading the group in the Pledge of Allegiance and God Bless America.
Carr announced there were still seats available for both the Country Rhinestone Cowgirls concert/bus trip Oct. 22 at the Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino and the Sight & Sound’s DANIEL production/bus trip to Lancaster, Pa., Oct. 16 to 18. Contact Carr at 716-230-4081.
“Happy Birthday” was wished to members Tom DeJoe, Dorothy Derby, Deb Messere, Marsha Sullivan and Paula Vogt. After lunch, about half of the membership stayed for bingo which was called by Rosemary Mancuso and Lucy Saeli.
The Sept. 9 lunch will consist of roast beef, roast turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy on the side, green beans and tossed salad. Members and their guests are asked to send a $15 check for each lunch made out to United Senior Citizens and sent to: Evonne Hennebery, PO Box 706, Dunkirk, NY 14048 by Sept. 1.
United Senior Citizens is one of many senior citizen social organizations in Chautauqua County. Annual membership is $5 and the meetings are on the second Monday of the month March through December. Besides programs/presentations on occasion, there is BINGO afterwards and United Senior Citizens welcome all “seniors” 55 years and older to come, share in some fun, friendship and a catered meal.
History Fair parade set for Sept. 14
SINCLAIRVILLE — The village is holding a parade in conjunction with the annual History Fair on Sept. 14. Line up begins at 9 a.m. at the Sinclairville elementary School and step off is at 10. The village is looking for participants to march in the parade and anyone is welcome to join in. For more information or to register, call Doug Goodwill at 716-450-2228.
Wine on trail walk is Monday
BEMUS POINT — The Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy will be holding a “Wine on the Trail” evening walk at its Browns Creek Nature Preserve at 5040 Walker Road in Bemus Point on Monday starting at 5:30 p.m. Participants are welcome to bring their own wine or other beverage to enjoy as they navigate through and learn about the preserve with Conservancy Conservationist Carol Markham and Land Specialist Bethany O’Hagan. No fees or reservations are required.
