Stroke, head injury support group dates set

The Henry C. Youngerman Center for Communication Disorders will resume offering support group meetings for stroke and head injury survivors and family members this fall.

A typical group meeting includes activities to help stroke and head injury survivors use compensatory strategies to improve communication skills and provides educational information and an opportunity to socialize and share experiences. Light refreshments are provided.

Meetings are from 3 to 4 p.m. on alternating Tuesdays – Sept. 17, Oct. 1 and 15, and Nov. 5 and 19 – in SUNY Fredonia’s Thompson Hall Room E148. Sessions are free and open to stroke/head injury survivors and their families.

The Youngerman Center recognizes there are individuals in the community whose insurance benefit for therapy has been exhausted but their hopes for improvement have not.

For more information about attending the group, contact Julie Williams, coordinator, at (716) 673-4618 or (716) 673-3203.

Starting at $3.50/week.
