Ceremony to remember Sgt. Kevin White

WESTFIELD — On Saturday, Westfield and surrounding communities will honor and remember Sgt. Kevin W. White prior to the Westfield boys and girls varsity soccer game.

The day starts at 9 a.m. with Westfield boys and girls modified games, followed by Northlake Surge Soccer games at 10 a.m., then finishing with a ceremony honoring White, followed by the Westfield boys and girls varsity soccer teams at 11 a.m. The community is invited to attend the ceremony to remember White’s memory and sacrifice.

All events are held at Northlake Family Recreation Center, 38 Nichols Ave.

Spaghetti dinner to benefit Depot Museum

SOUTH DAYTON — A spaghetti and meatballs dinner fundraiser for the South Dayton Depot Museum will be Sunday, Oct. 13 from noon to 2 p.m. at Zollinger’s Restaurant. Participants can eat in or take out. Cash presale tickets are only available at Zollinger’s and Cattaraugus County Bank for the dinner of spaghetti and meatballs, tossed salad, breadstick, and two cookies.

This fundraiser will support the purchase of two freight door gates, rain gutter for track side of the vintage Depot, and paint. During October, the Depot Museum is open Saturdays and Sundays 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to welcome visitors.

Village to start flushing mains Sunday

At 11 p.m. Sunday, Fredonia will start flushing water mains and fire hydrants in and around the Village. Flushing will be done from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. to minimize problems with water during the day.

The flushing will take approximately one week and during this process, residents may experience turbid water and reduced water pressure. The village recommends that residents check the quality of their water before doing laundry.
