Legion holds Oktoberfest on Sunday

CASSADAGA — On Sunday, from noon to 5 p.m., the Cassadaga Legion is holding a Tailgate/Oktoberfest gathering, for the Texans-Bills game. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

‘Publish’ event planned for library

SINCLAIRVILLE — Writers are invited to the Sinclairville Free Library for a free class being offered on Saturday, from noon to 2 p.m. “A Taste of How to Publish” will be presented by John Brantingham in a class that is open to everyone.

Learn the fundamentals of publishing in literary magazines and small presses. Participants should bring a laptop and the work they would like to publish. They will learn the nuts and bolts of publishing, and if time allows, submit one piece for publication.

John Brantingham is the recipient of a New York State Arts Council grant and was Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks’ first poet laureate. His work has been in hundreds of magazines and The Best Small Fictions 2016 and 2022. He has published twenty-two books of poetry, nonfiction, and fiction.

He has taught creative writing at MFAs and college programs across the world in the United States, China, the United Kingdom, and Canada, and at Mount San Antonio College where he was a professor and director of the creative writing program for 25 years. He has specialized in helping students develop their creative writing, and he has helped hundreds to publish their stories, poems, essays, and books.

Villenova Burial Association

SOUTH DAYTON — The Annual Fall Meeting of the Villenova Burial Association will be held Tuesday at 6:30 pm at the Villenova Town Hall, 1094 Butcher Road. This is a member meeting for anyone who owns a lot or has a family member buried in the Villenova Cemetery. As a member, you are a part of the association and responsible for the cemetery’s future operation and upkeep.

COLLINS — A free Family Fun Day will be Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. It is sponsored by the Collins Friends Meeting (Quaker Church), 2345 Main St.

Hot dogs, sloppy joes, potato chips, Bounce House, puppet show, face painting, fuzzy pumpkins craft, game: Corn Hole, Connect Four, Frisbee Throw, Guess the number of candies jar.
