Legion Auxiliary meets tonight
CASSADAGA — The Cassadaga Legion Auxiliary Unit 1280 will hold its October meeting Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Legion Hall. All members are encouraged to attend.
Fredonia pantry open Oct. 19
On Saturday, Oct. 19, The Fredonia Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon at Fredonia Presbyterian Church at 219 Central Ave. The pantry serves the needs of residents of Fredonia, ZIP code 14063, Pomfret, Sheridan, and Laona. All guests receive one or more bags of non-perishable food. Number of bags given out depends on family size.
Genealogical Society meets Oct. 16
CASSADAGA — The Chautauqua County Genealogical Society will meet Wednesday, Oct. 16.
The Genealogical Society programs are open to the public. The business meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. and the speaker begins at 7. Meetings are at the Cassadaga American Legion Post 1280, 228 Maple Ave.
Speaking will be Virginia Becker from the Sheridan Historical Society. Her presentation, entitled “Dreams of Eagle Bay,” is a partial history of the land along the Lake Erie shoreline in the town of Sheridan where the St. Columban’s on-the-Lake Retirement Home is located. She will share the changes that the area has seen over the years … what was, what could have been and what is now.

Simpson speaks at Networking meeting Thursday
The next Women In Networking program will take place on Thursday at noon at JCC and will focus on the impact of the Choose CHQ and Live CHQ Initiatives in our county as well as the CHQ Workforce program, CHQ Trail Map, and CHQ Professional Group of young people.
Speaker is Monica Simpson, Partner Engagement Coordinator for the Chautauqua County Partnership for Economic Growth (CCPEG), will discuss an initiative of the Chautauqua Regional Economic Development Corporation (CREDC).
With over 12 years of experience in economic development, Monica has worked as a Program Manager at the Fredonia Technology Incubator, at the State University of New York at Fredonia, and as a Grants Administrator at the University of New York at Buffalo. She has been with CCPEG for the past five years. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of New York at Buffalo. She is a member of the CHQ Chamber of Commerce, Chautauqua Leadership Network, CHQ Workforce Ambassador, and co-founder of the CHQ Professionals Group.
The Small Business Development Corp. Women in Networking program was developed for women to exchange ideas, experiences, and address challenging issues.
The SBDC has helped to build productive business relationships that benefit women throughout the region with this program. Cost to attend the lunch in person is $18 with check or credit card. This event will take place at Jamestown Community College, Carnahan Building, Room 120.
