Trunk or Treat event is Saturday in village
The village of Fredonia/town of Pomfret Recreation Department is hosting a Trunk or Treat taking place on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Russell Joy Park. There will be music and dance performances, as well as apple cider, donuts, crafts, and of course, candy!
This is a free event and will take place rain or shine. Please note, the entrance to Russell Joy Park from Seymour Street will be closed off to traffic and all participants must enter from Howard Street.
In addition, trick or treat hours for the Village of Fredonia and Town of Pomfret will take place on Halloween from 4:30 to 8 p.m. When you are out of candy and/or you choose to end trick or treating at your residence, please turn off your porch light.
Breakfast planned for veterans
FREWSBURG — Once again this year, the Jamestown Consistory of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, will be teaming up with American Legion Samuel L Derby Post 556, to host a Veterans Recognition Breakfast on Saturday November 9th, at 10am, at Post 556, 9 Meadows Lane,.
Veterans from Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties and their guest, will enjoy a free breakfast, consisting of scrambled eggs, home fries, pancakes, sausage and bacon, tropical fruit, toast, coffee, teas, and juice. You do not need to be a member of the Scottish Rite to enjoy this free breakfast. Non-veteran Scottish Rite members, Masons, and guests will enjoy the breakfast for a cost of $10 each.
As always, a speaker will be presenting a talk at the breakfast. This year the keynote speaker is Mel Feather, who will do a talk on “My Time in Vietnam”.

NCCF planning breakfast fundraiser
Join Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation for fun and breakfast at its Flapjack Breakfast Fundraiser on Nov. 9. The money raised at this event supports NCCF’s Service-Learning Program, which offers grants to teachers in local school districts for projects that integrate meaningful community service with learning. In addition to the breakfast, there will be a great basket raffle and the Be a Philanthropist contest.
Halloween event planned at SUNY
A safe Halloween event will be at the State University of New York at Fredonia on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. It will take place at the southwest entrance of Mason Hall and organizers request that children be with parents and guardians at all times. No dropoffs. The event is sponsored by the Percussion Guild, Student Association and other student organizations.
