Bills Booster Club gathers Sunday
The Southern Tier Bills Booster Club will watch the Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins game on Sunday at the First Ward Falcon Club in Dunkirk. Snacks will be provided and members may bring a food item to pass but it is not required. Game time is 1:00PM.
Historical Society holding open house
SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Historical Society will hold a Bake Sale and Open House on Election Day, Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Historical Society building at Route 20 and Center Road.
The Historical Society has an ongoing fundraiser, a basket of lottery tickets with a ShopLocalCHQ gift card included. The winner of the basket will be drawn at the bake sale.
Tickets are available by contacting a member, and they will also be sold at the Sheridan VFW this Friday during the fish fry and Flea Market. Visits to the museum may also be made at other times by appointment by calling (716) 960-9026 or (716) 673-1822.
New members are always welcome. Information can be found on the website, www.sheridanhistorical.org. Please stop and enjoy a homemade dessert and go vote.
Pet Pantry’s Holiday Craft Show set
The Pet Pantry’s annual Holiday Craft Show will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds, Ag & Expo Building, 1089 Central Ave. in Dunkirk from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Parking is free. Admission is $1 and is a donation to The Pet Pantry. Door prizes, food will be available.
Trinity United Church of Christ free community meal
GOWANDA — The Trinity United Church, located at Erie Avenue and Park Street, Gowanda, will host a take-out only free community meal at the Park Street entrance on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 4 to 6 p.m. or gone. The menu is meatloaf, mashed potatoes, vegetable, bread and cookies. Free will donations are appreciated but not necessary. Drive East Main to Railroad Avenue and then down Park Street, following the signs, or walk up. Everyone is welcome. The next meal is Jan. 11, 2025.
Lily Dale church plans fundraiser
LILY DALE — The City of Light Spiritualist Church fundraiser is a Psychic Spaghetti Luncheon at the Lily Dale Firehall from noon to 3 p.m. Mini readings are $10 for 10 minutes. Spaghetti, meatball, garlic bread,salad, dessert and beverage will be $10. There also will be a 50-50 drawing, bake sale and theme baskets.
State issues foliage update
Peak foliage will be arriving at its final destinations in Upstate New York this weekend, while mostly peak conditions will be found throughout Long Island.
Most parts of New York City should see leaves at midpoint to near peak of change, with a few peak colors expected in the southern portion of Brooklyn. This is according to the field reports from more than 85 volunteer observers for the Empire State Development Division of Tourism’s I LOVE NY program.
Locations with peak leaves this weekend will include: Niagara Falls and Albion (Greater Niagara); Poughkeepsie, Cold Spring and Garrison (Hudson Valley); Rochester (Finger Lakes); West Hempstead, Valley Stream, Cold Spring Harbor and Shelter Island (Long Island); and the southern portion of Brooklyn (New York City).
