City cancels holiday market event

Due to the lake-effect snow warning, the city of Dunkirk’s Christmas on Central Small Business Saturday Holiday Market has been canceled. The tree lighting ceremony will be moved to next Friday, Dec. 6 during the Dunkirk Holiday Parade.

Sunday Polka event postponed

Blessed Mary Angela Parish has postponed the One Last Polka event that was scheduled for Sunday until a later date.

Three blood drives planned in area

Connect Life has announced three blood drives in northern Chautauqua County. Every donor in December gets a free Buffalo Sabres ticket to select games.

They include:

— Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Brooks-TLC Hospital, 529 Central Ave., Dunkirk.

— Friday from noon to 5 p.m. at the Fitness Room, 3469 East Main St., Dunkirk.

— Friday, Dec. 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Portland Congregational Church,
