Sons of Legion meet again next month

The Sons of American Legion Squad 59 will be canceling its monthly meeting for December at Post 59, 156 E. Main St., Fredonia, due it being scheduled on Christmas Eve. The next monthly meeting will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m.

Veterans group plans brunch

BROCTON — Veterans 4 Christ will offer a free brunch for veterans, active duty military and a guest at 10 a.m. Saturday. It is held at Tri-Church Parish, 41 E. Main St. The facility is handicap accessible. The brunch is homemade food and Paula’s doughnuts. There will not be a guest speaker this month so there is more time to see friends and make new friends. Please come and enjoy the camaraderie.

Church plans Christmas Eve service

PORTLAND — A Christmas Eve service will be at the Portland Congregational Church, 8649 Church St. at 9 p.m. Tuesday. Come, rejoice and be blessed in the Christmas season and celebrate the real meaning of Christmas.

Brocton-Portland Seniors celebrate season

BROCTON — Brocton-Portland Seniors met Tuesday at Tri-Church Parish with 70 members and President Margaret Jagoda leading the Lord’s Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance.

Committee members Linda Riley, Nancy Hayden, Barbara Crandall, Ruth Neal, Denise Griffin, George and Judy Travis, Margaret Jagoda and Rita Bennett were thanked. Fred’s Catering provided beef on weck and fresh salad, desserts and M & M casserole!

The installation of officers was held by Tom DeJoe swearing in president, Margaret Jagoda; vice president, Kathy Peters; secretary, Ruth Neal and treasurer, Barbara Crandall.

Door prizes were won by Jean Jaquith, Patti Farrell and Dolores Fairbanks. Centerpieces by Linda Riley were won by 14 members. Birthdays were celebrated by Silvana Bajdas, Carol Crolle, Sandy Terrill, Dolores Fairbanks, Daune Hemmis, Carol Hussey and Shane West.

Judy Travis led a pass the gift game with prizes by Nancy Hayden and Denise Griffin, no two alike.

Christmas gift Cards were passed out and Tom Gestwicki entertained with his guitar that included Christmas stories and sing-along tunes. The next meeting will be Jan. 28, with members bringing a dish to pass for potluck, personal table service and prize for Bingo. Dues will be collected for the New Year.
