Veterans 4 Christ plan taco event

WESTFIELD — Do you like tacos? Are you a veteran or active-duty military? Well, join an all-you-can-eat taco buffet on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. Veterans, active-duty military and a guest are welcome to attend.

The buffet will include all the fixings for tacos plus a non-alcoholic beverage. This event will be held at Westfield American Legion, Post 327; 7579 Main Road in the back dining/activity room. The cost is $3 per person with under 10 free. The Westfield American Legion Auxiliary will be holding a bake sale this evening. This event is being put on by Veterans 4 Christ with the cooking being done by the Westfield American Legion, Post 327.

Plan set for 75th birthday party

The committee planning the “75th Birthday Bash” for members of the Dunkirk and Cardinal Mindszenty High Schools Classes of 1968 met recently and set the following information for classmates.

The cost for the Saturday, Aug. 9 event at American Legion Post 62 will be $15 per person, checks should be made out to DHS Class of 1968.

Cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m., followed by a light buffet supper.

The next organization meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. on May 7 at Post 62.

Burial Association plans bake sale

SOUTH DAYTON — The Villenova Burial Association eighth annual “Love Remembered” bake sale will be Saturday, Feb. 8 beginning at 9 a.m. in the South Dayton Supermarket entryway. There will be dozens of homemade goodies including pies, bread, cookies, candy, cupcakes and cakes. There will also be a donation box. The fundraiser theme, “Love Remembered,” is a symbol of remembering those held close in our hearts during this holiday celebrating love.

All proceeds will help defray the maintenance and operating costs of the Villenova Cemetery. The event also offers an opportunity for members of the community to learn about the Association and how they might help in efforts to maintain and preserve the more than 200-year-old cemetery.

JCC plans art reception

JAMESTOWN — SUNY Jamestown Community College is hosting an opening reception for its Art Faculty Exhibition from 5 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 6 at the Jamestown Campus Weeks Gallery. The event is free and open to the public. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the artists, view their work, and enjoy hors d’oeuvres and light refreshments.

This exhibition features works by JCC’s Art faculty and staff, including illustrations by art and design studio technician Kate Barry; digital/new media collaborative by artists in residence Emily Drew and Aaron Perez; ceramics by Elliott Hong; paintings by adjunct instructors Nathan Jeffery and Kelsey Renko; photography by adjunct instructor Mark Kirsch; and sculpture by instructor Madison LaVallee.

“This is the first faculty exhibition we’ve hosted at the Weeks Gallery since 2019, and we’re very excited to celebrate the talents of the instructors who serve our Fine Arts students at JCC,” said Colin Shaffer, the college’s director of Galleries. “This exhibition offers a unique glimpse into each artists’ practice and creative process, and showcases a wide range of traditional and contemporary media.”

The exhibition is on display at Weeks Gallery, located on the second floor of the Sheldon Center, through March 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays. The gallery is closed on holidays.
