NiMo, Grid retirees planning luncheon

The Niagara Mohawk and National Grid retirees luncheon will be on Tuesday, April 8 at noon at The White Inn, 52 E. Main St. Fredonia.

Club Associates meet in Silver Creek

SILVER CREEK — The Northern Chautauqua County Club Associates recently held their regular monthly meeting. Ed Fik, president of the Silver Creek Overseas Veterans Club, welcomed the members. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a moment of silence for all deceased club members.

Two association officers were absent as well as two clubs that didn’t have a representative present.

The Guest speaker was Silver Creek Mayor Jeff Hornburg who spoke about a few of the businesses and their impact on the village.

The Associates will meet again on Sunday, April 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the Forestville American Legion Post 953. All members are invited to attend.

United Senior Citizens note lunch, events

Members of the United Senior Citizens held their March meeting at the Falcon Club, 341 Lake Shore Drive East in Dunkirk, after a two-month winter hiatus.

Grace was given in unison along with the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of God Bless America. President Evonne Hennebery called the meeting to order and introduced guests Patricia Ardillo and Linda Bradigan. A moment of silence was given to acknowledge the passing of member Carol Hawk.

Announcements were given by Judy Presutti and birthday greetings for January, February and March were sung to the following: Thelma Saden, Kathie Hobbs, Mike McClenathan, Todd McClenathan, Judie Paternosh, Becky Addington, Brenda Drummond, Annabell Hahn, Cassie Jernatowski, Rosemary Mancuso, Nancy Niebel, Judy Presutti, John Wiedenhoffer and Marcia Zmuda.

After lunch, in her absence, guest speakers Venn Blakely and Steve Saulsgiver gave details on behalf of Robin Carr for Mayville Senior’s “Cabin Fever Reliever” trip Tuesday. Future day trips in addition to a few overnighters will be announced for 2025-2026. Bingo was then enjoyed by the group and was called by Lucy Saeli and Mancuso.

The next meeting will take place on April 14 at noon at the Falcon Club. The catered meal will consist of tossed salad, baked chicken, herb roasted pork loin, mashed potatoes (gravy on side) and green beans. Members and new friends please send a check made out to United Senior Citizens for $15 and send to: Evonne Hennebery, PO Box 706, Dunkirk, NY 14048 by April 5.

The United Senior Citizens is one of many Chautauqua County senior citizen groups. Members meet the second Monday of the month except in January and February. We encourage any senior 55 and older to join the United Senior Citizens. Dues are $5 per year and a reminder to those members who haven’t done so, please send your dues in with your reservation for lunch.
